Northport Council President Jeff Hogg, who has been the most vocal proponent of the improvements to the park, said the new development will encompass River Run Park, Kentuck Park, Warrior Baseball, and Northport's Levee Trail.
Hogg then explained that the Northport Shore concept was created by specifying Northport’s side of the river, with a logo playing off of the railroad bridge that spans the Black Warrior River.

What's more, he said the River Run Park logo was created by incorporating the little league baseball patch logo along with the river.
"The City can now start branding and getting our name out there so when we break ground soon we can line up future tournaments," Hogg said. "I promised in 2018 that I would work hard on this and so happy to be with a Mayor and Council that took the steps to make this happen"
As Patch previously reported, work on improvements to Kentuck Park, which are currently underway, is just one of three major wish-list recreation projects for the city, which is also working to develop an aquatic center/water park on McFarland Boulevard and an adventure sports park on Rose Boulevard.
