The deposition states the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit assisted Northport police in the case and obtained security camera footage from Hollis’ apartment complex.
Investigators said the footage showed Hollis speaking with a person of interest before both left the area together.
Court documents claim the same footage later showed the individual carrying a large tote containing what appeared to be a large black bag.
Investigators identified the individual as Dejourney.
According to the filing, Hollis’ cellphone was later recovered along Interstate 20/59 westbound near Exit 62 after her family reportedly received a crash notification through the Life360 app.
Investigators then obtained a search warrant for Dejourney’s cellphone data, which court records say placed him at Hollis’ residence and allegedly showed his phone traveling alongside Hollis’ phone for portions of the trip.
The deposition further states Dejourney’s cellphone traveled westbound on Interstate 20/59 before exiting near Knoxville, Alabama, then later returned eastbound.
Authorities said Hollis’ body was discovered May 16 approximately 10 to 15 feet off the roadway along Interstate 20/59 eastbound in Greene County.
Court records state she was found encased in a large black trash bag similar to the one investigators say was seen in surveillance footage.
Investigators also allege cellphone tower data placed Dejourney in the area where Hollis’ body and cellphone were recovered.
Dejourney was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where court records show a judge set his bond at $15,000 cash.
Authorities have indicated additional charges could be possible as the investigation remains ongoing.
