"As you know, every time you go to the gas pump and every time you go to the grocery store, you feel the pinch of the inflation that has materialized over the last year," said City Administrator Glenda Webb as she thanked the Council for its support of the raise. "This will help keep good employees here at the City of Northport."
She would go on to say, though, that the cost of living adjustment, or COLA, as it is more commonly referred, would not be a "end-all-be-all" for the way the city pays its employees.

Webb then pointed to a pay play study commissioned by the Council that is currently underway.
"We believe there will be other necessary adjustments in the future, but I just want to thank you for the support," she said.
