The measure called for the reallocation of $50,000 in Northport First funds from FY2020 to now be put toward improvements for the park at the Robert Hasson Community Center. The funds were initially set aside for new basketball courts at Kentuck Park.

After receiving quotes from three firms interested in undertaking the project, the Council ultimately chose Tuscaloosa-based Civilworx Construction.

District 2 Councilman Woodrow Washington III, who represents the district that includes the park, made the initial motion to pass the measure and was quick to point out that the funds will not go toward replacing the basketball courts that were torn up to make way for the new hotel on Bridge Avenue.
