The City of Northport on Wednesday announced it has decided to cancel its planned Veterans Day Parade due to lack of participation.

NORTHPORT, AL — The City of Northport on Wednesday announced it has decided to cancel its planned Veterans Day Parade due to lack of participation.

The city says the parade and ceremony were originally scheduled for Nov. 11, but failed to receive sufficient participation to justify moving forward.

"Our hope is that our citizens will continue the tradition of honoring all who have served in the US Military by participating in other community events and by personally thanking veterans for their service," the city said in a press release on Wednesday.
