Northport Fire Rescue, ALEA Offering Free Basic Boating Course

Northport Fire Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will host a free Basic Boating Course on Saturday, May 21.

NORTHPORT, AL — Northport Fire Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will host a free Basic Boating Course on Saturday, May 21 that is open to those ages 12 and up.

As it stands in Alabama, no one under the age of 12 may operate a motorized watercraft, while Alabama residents are required to have a vessel license to do so. The Basic Boating Course is required to obtain an Alabama vessel license.

The free course will be hosted at Northport Fire Rescue's Station No. 2 at 5500 Highway 69 N by a representative from ALEA. It will last from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
