Northport Man Charged With Assault After Reported Stabbing
A Northport man has been charged with second degree assault after stabbing a neighbor during a verbal dispute.

NORTHPORT, AL — A Northport man has been charged with second-degree assault after allegedly stabbing a neighbor during a verbal dispute Tuesday.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Commander Jack Kennedy said officer with the Northport Police Department responded on Tuesday at 10:40 p.m. to a call of a stabbing in the 4500 block of Twin Lake Court.

Kennedy said the victim's injured was not life threatening but did require medical treatment.
"The reported suspect, Walter Turner III, refused to exit his residence, and NPD [Special Response Team] was activated and responded to the scene," Kennedy told media on Wednesday. "Turner barricaded himself in the residence for over an hour, but eventually surrendered to police."

Turner was charged after witness testimony and interviews with Turner and the victim
He was charged with one count of assault 2nd degree and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail after his bond was set at $15,000.
