Northport Mayor Chides 'Bin Biden' After Deadly Kabul Attack
Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon took to social media to express some choice words for the commander-in-chief following Thursday's attacks.

NORTHPORT, AL — In the wake of a deadly attack at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan's capital city on Thursday, Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon ordered flags flown at half mast and sharply criticized President Joe Biden's handling of the military withdrawal from the worn-torn country.

Herndon's order came shortly before a statewide directive by Gov. Kay Ivey to honor the 13 U.S. service members killed in what appears to have been a suicide bombing at the busy airport where evacuees and refugees alike are being flown out en masse.

The situation on the ground is a deadly and politically precarious one, as the U.S. moves closer to its Aug. 31 deadline for a full military withdrawal. Following the attacks on Thursday, President Biden said evacuations would continue and vowed retaliatory measures against those responsible.
Herndon, viewed by many as an affable mayor known for his generosity and charity work, also urged Northport residents to contact their senators and representatives to demand a stop be put to border crossings of undocumented immigrants. He insists that access along the southern border will only result in more extremists crossing into the United States to carry out attacks.

An outspoken conservative, the 68-year-old mayor has taken to Facebook numerous times to point out the shortcomings of "Bin Biden"— a moniker he has taken to using in recent weeks on social media to refer to the Democratic president.
"Does it give any of you a warm fuzzy feeling to know that Bin Biden is always in arms [sic] length of the nuclear football?" Herndon said on social media. "Congress needs to do whatever they have to do to remove him TODAY."

The post, like previous others taking on national issues, was met with seemingly unanimous support from the few Facebook followers who engaged it, many of whom echoed the same conservative sentiments laid out by the mayor.
"Biden destroying our nation," commented one Facebook user.
In a phone interview with Patch, Herndon expressed his displeasure with what the country has become and how the world now perceives the United States in the wake of the deadly attacks.
"I asked our fire chief to lower flags to half mast before even the governor did," Herndon pointed out when asked about the inspiration for the posts. "There were bad decisions that were made, to go and ruin the way the whole world looks at us from now on. As far as the southern border, Biden has let in terrorists and drugs and disease. So, I would love to see the governors of all the states say 'Hey, we're gonna have summer camp in Texas, on the border, let's go!'"
Herndon insisted he has never been much for political correctness, because he views himself as a blue-collar land surveyor who just happens to hold elected office.
"I miss my Dad, but I'm glad he's not here to see what this world has become," he said. "Biden has got to be stopped. In the last 30 days or so I've been calling him Bin Biden — like Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden would be very proud of everything Bin Biden has done. I didn't like everything [President Donald] Trump did as far his brashness, his tweets, his gruff behavior some times. But he did have the world in awe or respect of the United States and we're going to have to have something like that or we're going to be ruined."
