"We want to thank each and every one of you for all of the years of support," the eatery said on its Facebook page. "It’s truly such a difficult decision to hand over our wonderful shop, but we know that’s what’s best at this point in time. It has been nothing less than an absolute pleasure serving you guys! And don’t worry, we will be training our wonderful new owner so that they can continue serving your favorite foods."

Originally opened as Chicago Pizza more than two decades ago, the California Underground brand traces its origins to a change in ownership in December 2003 when it was purchased by Eo Martin, shortly after the Winn-Dixie shopping center first opened. Despite different owners since then, the brand has maintained and proven a lasting favorite for pizza lovers in Northport with its made-from-scratch dough and fresh toppings.
