Northport Police Respond After Infant Found In Walmart Shopping Cart
Here's the latest after police say a four-month-old girl was found abandoned in a shopping cart at Walmart on McFarland Boulevard.
NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport Police Department says a four-month-old infant girl was found left in a shopping cart at the Walmart Supercenter on McFarland Boulevard Thursday night shortly after 8:30 p.m.

NPD Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter told Patch Friday morning that the child was found by Walmart employees and cared for until the Alabama Department of Human Resources was contacted.

Carpenter said DHR responded and the child was transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure.
The child remains in state custody as investigators work to track down her family.
