Northport's Annual Tree Seedling Giveaway Set For This Weekend

NORTHPORT, AL — The City of Northport is gearing up to hosts its annual Tree Seedling Giveaway and Recycling Event on Saturday, Feb. 28.

City officials said the event is intended to offer residents a chance to pick up free tree seedlings and learn more about environmental stewardship.

The event is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Northport City Hall, and is made possible through a partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission and Alabama Power.

The city says a variety of seedlings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with specific species to be announced closer to the event date.

City officials also encourage attendees to arrive early due to anticipated high demand.

Along with the giveaway, the occasion will include tree planting demonstrations and tips on proper tree placement, with members of Northport’s Recycling Team on site to answer questions and help residents sign up for the city's free recycling service.
