Northridge High Student Awarded National Merit Scholarship

Colin J. Murphy of Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa was the only recipient of the distinction from the West Alabama area

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Northridge High School senior Colin J. Murphy was named this week as one of 20 Alabama high school students to receive National Merit Scholarships.

Murphy was the only high school student from the Tuscaloosa area selected.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced more than 1,000 additional winners Monday, with a total of 16,000 students selected as finalists for the scholarships and the final winners are candidates judged to have the strongest combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
