Investigators Say Husband Killed Wife In Sunday Shooting In Northport
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a woman is dead following a shooting Sunday in Northport.

NORTHPORT, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a woman is dead after being shot and killed by her husband Sunday.

Captain Marty Sellers the Northport Police Department and VCU investigators responded after the initial call of a shooting came in around noon in the 3200 block of 28th Street, which is just off of Main Avenue in Northport.

Sellers said that when officers arrived they found a 79-year-old woman, Donna Adams, dead from a gunshot wound.
Her husband, 80-year-old Gerald Adams, was still on scene and taken into custody.

Sellers then said Donna Adams had been suffering from a prolonged illness and there was no evidence of an argument prior to the shooting.
Gerald Adams has been charged with murder and is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond pursuant to Aniah’s Law.
