A large police and fire presence could still be seen in the area as of 5:30 p.m.

Carpenter declined to identify the person killed in the crash as the investigation into the collision begins, but did say the two other people injured were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa to be treated for their injuries.

He did, however, also confirm that all three involved were juveniles.

Carpenter then pointed out to those driving in the area that both southbound lanes are blocked off as the department's Accident Reconstruction team works the case.
