One Missing After Boat Wreck At Oliver Lock & Dam
Multiple agencies are investigating a boat wreck on the Black Warrior River Tuesday night and conducting a search for a missing person

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — A search is underway for a missing person in the area of Oliver Lock and Dam after a boat carrying three people went over a dam on the Black Warrior River Tuesday evening.
Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue spokeswoman Holly Whigham told Patch the call reporting the accident came in about 8 p.m. and said the search remains ongoing.
The Tuscaloosa Police Department confirmed to Patch that three occupants were in the boat at the time of the accident. Officials said the boat went over the dam and all three were submerged, but only two came to the surface.

The missing person has not been identified at this time.

Emergency crews could be seen on both banks of the river after 10 p.m. Tuesday night, with the heaviest concentration appearing in the area of 43rd Avenue on the Tuscaloosa side.

A marine police boat and other emergency vehicles were also stationed at the boat ramp on Oliver Dam Road on the Northport side. To aid in the search, a large spotlight was being utilized in the vicinity of the dam.
Whigham said TFR, Northport Fire Rescue, the Tuscaloosa Police Department and Northport Police Department have responded to the scene and are conducting the search.
