Oxford Man Charged After Suspected Robbery Turns Deadly At Tuscaloosa Apartment Complex
An Oxford man has been charged with felony murder and several other offenses following a deadly shooting Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An Oxford man has been charged with felony murder and several other offenses following a deadly shooting Saturday night at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex that investigators say stemmed from an attempted robbery.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall said officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, to a report of a shooting victim being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center from the 1000 block of Investigator Dornell Cousette Street.

Investigators later determined the shooting occurred in the parking lot of Magnolia Apartments, located at 5621 Highway 69 South.
Hall said investigators processed the crime scene before interviewing multiple witnesses and determining that two 20-year-old Oxford men, identified as Kurtae'vious Earl Tyson and Daronte Collins, had attempted to rob a 25-year-old Tuscaloosa man.

Hall said gunfire was exchanged during the attempted robbery, leaving Tyson critically injured. He later died from his injuries.
Collins was then charged with felony murder, first-degree robbery, attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Collins is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond pursuant to Aniah's Law.
