NORTHPORT, AL — Historic Downtown Northport was transformed into a living Charles Dickens' novel Tuesday night for the highly-anticipated return of Dickens Downtown.

The streets were filled with Christmas music from string bands for the free event, as storeowners opened for the occasion. Tours were given at the historic Shirley house in the spirit of a Victorian Era Christmas and different vendors could be seen all along Main Avenue.

On a particularly cold evening in Northport, the artificial snow machine made for an even more magical environment.
