CARROLLTON, AL — Pickens County Sheriff Jordan Powell says a man has been arrested after a high-speed pursuit Sunday evening.

Powell said deputies initially responded to a report of a subject attempting to access a bank that was closed due to winter weather conditions.

When officers made contact, the individual fled in a vehicle, leading law enforcement on a pursuit.
Powell said multiple law enforcement agencies across Pickens County coordinated efforts during the pursuit, which ended after officers safely deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Pickens County Jail records show Miguel Pascual, 21, was booked Sunday night on charges of attempting to elude and driving under the influence of alcohol.
He remains in the Pickens County Jail as of the publication of this story, with his bond set at $1,000.
