TUSCALOOSA, AL — A wet and stormy pattern is expected to settle over West Alabama for much of the next week, with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms stretching through Memorial Day weekend and into early next week.

According to the extended forecast from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa could see thunderstorms as early as Wednesday afternoon, with rain chances increasing significantly Thursday and Friday before unsettled conditions continue through the holiday weekend.

In addition to Memorial Day weekend impacts, the possibility of rain and thunderstorms is also likely to impact the schedule of the ongoing Southeastern Conference baseball tournament in Hoover.
Thursday’s forecast calls for a high near 82 degrees with showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the day and an 88% chance of precipitation.

Friday currently appears to carry the highest rain chances for the week, with forecasters predicting widespread showers and potentially heavier thunderstorms with a 96% chance of rain.
The soggy weather pattern is expected to linger into Memorial Day weekend, with scattered thunderstorms possible Saturday through Monday.
High temperatures are forecast to remain in the low-to-mid 80s with humid conditions persisting throughout the stretch.
While no widespread severe outbreak has been specifically forecast for West Alabama at this time, repeated rounds of thunderstorms could create periods of heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning and isolated strong wind gusts across the region heading into the busy holiday weekend.
