Registration Opens For 2022 Return Of Tuscaloosa Mayor's Cup
Registration is now open for the 2022 event, which will raise money to improve access to pre-K programs in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa and Mayor Walt Maddox on Monday announced that the 2022 Mayor’s Cup 5K for Pre-K will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 8 a.m. in downtown Tuscaloosa.

First started in 2007, the goal of the event will be to raise money for the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative, which aims to expand pre-K access for children in Tuscaloosa. To date, the race has raised over $325,000.

“I’d like to thank everyone for your patience and support as we made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 and 2021 Mayor’s Cups amid the pandemic,”Maddox said in a press release on Monday. “I’m excited to reconvene this year as a community, united in health and wellness, while supporting our children.”
The Mayor's Cup is open to all ages and participants can run or walk.

The city of Tuscaloosa also pointed out that, for runners, the Mayor’s Cup 5K is a Grand Prix event registered with the Tuscaloosa Track Club. Race results will be determined with timing chips attached to race bibs.
Registration for the Mayor's Cup opens on Monday, Jan. 24, with a registration fee of $15 until the end of February. Registration will then be $20 during the month of March and $25 from April 1 to the day of the race on April 30.
