REPORT: Hugh Freeze Set To Become Auburn's Next Head Coach

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Multiple reports have confirmed that Liberty University head football coach Hugh Freeze is set to be announced as the next head football coach at Auburn University.

The news was first reported by ESPN's Chris Low on Monday.

Freeze, 53, just wrapped up his fourth regular season with the Liberty Flames. Prior to his time in Lynchburg, Virginia, Freeze had become a popular name in coaching circles after his turnaround of the program at Ole Miss, before a flurry of controversies led to his untimely exit in 2016.

His hiring also comes after the Tigers fired Bryan Harsin midway through his second season on The Plains, before interim head coach Carnell "Cadillac" Williams finished out the year.

Auburn finished the 2022 campaign with a 5-7 mark, likely being left out of bowl eligibility.

For his career, Freeze holds a 76–47 record and is 5-2 in bowl games.
