Former Tide Standout Henry Ruggs Charged With DUI Resulting In Death Following Crash
The former Crimson Tide star receiver is facing a felony charge of DUI resulting in death following a fatal two-car crash in Las Vegas.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — ESPN reports that former Alabama Crimson Tide football standout and Las Vegas Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III has been charged with DUI resulting in death following a fiery car crash early Tuesday morning in Las Vegas that left one person dead.

The nationwide sports news outlet reported that The Las Vegas Metro Police Department responded to crash near the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and South Spring Valley Parkway Tuesday morning involving a Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Rav4.

Police said the Toyota involved in the crash caught fire as a result and a deceased victim was later recovered from the wreckage. News of the crash was first broken by TMZ Tuesday morning.
Ruggs, 22, was the driver of the Chevrolet, according to police, and remained on scene showing signs of impairment following the crash. He was subsequently charged with DUI resulting in death.

In the state of Nevada, the charge is comparable to vehicular manslaughter, with those found guilty receiving prison sentencing ranging from a minimum of 2 years to a maximum of 20.
Ruggs has had a productive season for the Raiders in 2021, snagging 24 passes for 469 yards and two touchdowns. A part of one of the most talented receiving corps in college football history, was taken 12th overall by the Raiders in 2020 NFL Draft.
The Raiders organization has also responded to the tragedy, saying "We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family."
