Second Suspect Arrested For Murder Of Tuscaloosa 13 Year Old

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Monday announced a second arrest following the shooting death of 13-year-old Kei'lan Allen last Friday

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Monday announced a second arrest following the shooting death of 13-year-old Kei'lan Allen last Friday on Washington Square in the city's West End.

Unit commander Captain Jack Kennedy said Julian Lamont Gordon, 21, has been taken into custody and charged with capital murder.

Patch reported Sunday night when the first arrest in the case was announced. James Deanthony Reed, 18, was arrested Sunday night and also charged with capital murder. The investigation remains active and other arrests are possible.

Kennedy said on Sunday the teen was not the intended target of the shooting, before saying investigators believe that the actual target was an older family member, which was the result of either gang activity or past disputes.

Patch reported on Saturday Allen was sitting in his room, playing on his iPad, when numerous shots were fired at the house. One of the bullets went through a bedroom window, hitting the child in the head and killing him.
