Self-Defense Possible Motive In Fatal Stabbing At Claybrook Apartments Friday
Here's the latest after police responded to a report of a stabbing in Tuscaloosa Friday morning that left one man dead.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has identified a man who died Friday morning from his injuries after being stabbed at Claybrook Apartments in Tuscaloosa.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, provided further details saying that at 6 a.m. officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department were called to a reported stabbing in the 2600 block of Claybrook Drive.

Once on scene, officers found Willie Dejuan Crooks, 38, had suffered stab wounds that resulted in him being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment. He would later succumb to hi injuries.
Kennedy then said a female subject and multiple witnesses were located.

"Crooks and the female were involved in a domestic relationship," Kennedy said. "The altercation between them was observed by multiple third party witnesses. At this time, potential self-defense issues are being investigated on the part of the female, and no arrests have been made."
Kennedy went on to say the investigation into the fatal stabbing continues and the case will eventually be presented to a grand jury.
