As Patch previously reported, a Tuscaloosa County jury found Profozich guilty of murder following a multi-day trial centered on the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Schuyler Bradley during an altercation on University Boulevard in October 2020.

Bradley, an Indiana University student who was visiting Tuscaloosa to attend an Alabama football game, was shot in the stomach during the confrontation and later died from his injuries.

Profozich, who was 22 at the time of the shooting, was initially charged with attempted murder before the charge was elevated to murder when Bradley succumbed to his injuries.

The jury deliberated for less than three hours before returning the guilty verdict May 14 after hearing testimony from witnesses, investigators and Profozich himself.

Jurors were instructed on both murder and the lesser included offense of manslaughter before ultimately convicting him on the murder charge.

Under Alabama law, a murder conviction carries a prison sentence ranging from 20 years to life.

Profozich has remained in custody in the Tuscaloosa County Jail since the verdict was returned.
