Shelton State Announces Coaches For Softball, Golf & Cross Country

SSCC has announced three new coaching hires for two new programs and its softball program.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — It's been a busy summer as Shelton State Community College over the last week announced coaching hires not only for the return of golf and cross country to its athletic offerings, but also a new softball head coach.

SSCC says men's and women's golf will return after more than two decades, with the program being led by former assistant women’s basketball coach Chris Sanford. This will mark Sanford's 22nd season with Shelton State Athletics.


CROSS COUNTRY

Barry Colburn has been tapped to lead the new SSCC cross country program, bringing more than 40 years of experience from stints at Texas A&M University, the University of Richmond, the University of Alabama, and Troy University.


SOFTBALL

Kaitlin Griffin has been named the next head coach of the Shelton State softball program, coming to Tuscaloosa after serving as head softball coach at Oak Mountain High School and Mountain Brook High School. She is a graduate and former softball player at California State University, Fresno.
