Shelton State Offering Non-Credit Music Courses For The Public

The school is offering the classes to allow those in the community a chance to explore their passion for music and to improve their skills.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College on Thursday announced it is offering opportunities for community members to explore their passions in the arts through non-credit music courses.

Free options are available in Concert Band, Shelton Singers, as well as the College’s Jazz Combo and Jazz Ensemble. The music courses are available through Workforce Development/Community Education. Each course — offered on the SSCC Martin Campus in the Sandra Hall Ray Fine Arts Center — requires registration and a $30 fee.

SSCC says musical experience is preferred, and course times vary.

Concert Band – Mondays, 6:45 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Shelton Singers – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30 p.m. – 3:55 p.m.

Jazz Combo – Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.

Jazz Ensemble – Mondays and Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.
