More than 70 people were interviewed for the project, including Saban and his wife, Terry Saban.
Others include coaching icons like Bill Belichick, Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, Kirby Smart, and players such as Tim Tebow, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.
ESPN says the series traces Saban's career beyond Tuscaloosa, exploring his time at LSU, Michigan State and with the Miami Dolphins, while examining the experiences that shaped his coaching philosophy.
At the center of the series is Saban's famed "Process," the approach to preparation and leadership that became synonymous with his Alabama dynasty.
"With my coaching days behind me, Miss Terry and I have been doing a lot of reflection and realized we were ready to tell our story," Saban said ahead of the debut of the docuseries. "The team at Words + Pictures has encouraged me to really look back not just at my time at Alabama, but every stop along the way — and not just reflect on what happened but consider the process which made it happen."
As Patch previously reported, Saban retired from coaching in January 2024 following one of the most successful careers in college football history.
He won seven national championships as a head coach, including six during his 17 seasons at Alabama and one at LSU.
Saban's tenure with the Crimson Tide also produced four Heisman Trophy winners — including Mark Ingram as the school's first — and scores of players who went on to the NFL.
"Nick Saban's impact extends far beyond the championships and historic success he achieved on the field," Brian Lockhart, senior vice president of ESPN Original Content, said. "What makes this series so special is the extraordinary access to Coach Saban, Miss Terry and the people who know him best, paired with rare footage that offers a new perspective on his remarkable journey."
Russell Dinallo directed the series, with Connor Schell, Libby Geist, Aaron Cohen, Alexa Conway and longtime ESPN reporter Tom Rinaldi among its producers.
