Sixth Annual River Pitch Competition Set For Nov. 15
There is no entry free for the event, which will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute at the The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business is gearing up to host its sixth annual River Pitch Competition Tuesday, Nov. 15.

There is no entry free for the event, which will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market. The event is open to UA students, faculty, staff and members of the West Alabama community.

Similar to the hit show "Shark Tank,"organizers said the competition in years past has featured approximately 50 individuals, many working as a team, with a representative from each group or concept delivering a three-minute presentation to a panel of judges.
Several past winners have gone on to find business success in the are, such as including Art Garage, TankR and City Detect.

UA says winning teams will each receive $1,000 to support their ideas.
“We are happy to see that great ideas not only start here, but the entrepreneurs also choose to stay and grow their businesses here," Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama CEO Jim Page. “This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of The EDGE, our incubator and accelerator, where many of the entrepreneurs go to build their businesses. The energy and enthusiasm of everyone who has come together in our community really comes through in these events.”
