South Korean National Charged In Walker County Child Sex Crime Investigation

A South Korean national is accused of traveling to Walker County multiple times to engage in sexual offenses involving a child.

JASPER, Ala. — The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a South Korean national accused of traveling to Walker County multiple times to engage in sexual offenses involving a child.

WCSO says 24-year-old Hyeonsoo Ko, of South Korea, was taken into custody following an investigation involving a juvenile victim.

Ko has been charged with three counts of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, one count of enticing a child to enter a vehicle or residence, two counts of second-degree rape and two counts of Second-Degree Sexual Abuse.

Investigators said Ko allegedly traveled to Walker County on at least three separate occasions in connection with the offenses.

In a statement released Saturday, the sheriff’s office said the case highlights the dangers children face both online and in person.

Ko is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

No additional details about the victim or the timeline of the investigation were immediately released.
