Stillman Baseball Heading To Pittsburgh For HBCU Baseball Classic At PNC Park

Stillman College will soon see its baseball team play on one of the biggest stages in the sport as the Tigers will travel to Pittsburgh.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College will soon see its baseball team play on one of the biggest stages in the sport as the Tigers will face Wiley College in the HBCU Baseball Classic at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.

The game will be a fall exhibition as part of the the inaugural Pittsburgh HBCU Baseball Classic, which will be hosted by the Pittsburgh HBCU Collaborative at the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. local time.

Admission to the game is free.

"We are looking forward to participating in this grand event,” Stillman athletic director and baseball coach Terrance Whittle said. “Our players will definitely have the experience of a lifetime to play in a Major League ballpark. This opportunity will show the nation the value, gems and talent associated with HBCU baseball, in addition to the scholarship that these players demonstrate on a daily basis.”

Both teams will arrive in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Oct. 9 and participate in a youth clinic with the Josh Gibson Foundation. The teams will also try to visit local schools as part of the trip.

Along with the game, Stillman College admissions staff will also be in Pittsburgh that week to attend the 10th Annual Steel City HBCU College & Transfer Fair, which will be hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Council of HBCU Alumni on Oct. 12 at PNC Park.
