Stillman Women's Hoops Standout Nominated For Prestigious Honor
King is a fifth-year senior from Panama City, Florida, entering her third season with Stillman College.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College women’s basketball student-athlete JaMesha King has been named as a nominee for the Southern State Athletic Conference's female Emil S. Liston Scholarship Award for 2022-23.

Stillman College says each conference selects one male and one female honoree to be considered for the NAIA’s overall winner, which will be announced in September.

The Emil S. Liston Scholarship award honors academic and athletic excellence by upperclassmen student-athletes in men’s and women’s basketball and is named in honor of the NAIA’s first executive secretary and the catalyst responsible for the men’s basketball tournament.
"Ms. King is one of the most mature and well-rounded student-athletes that I have coached in quite some time," Stillman head coach Alico Dunk. "She also represents the team with class and intelligence by serving as a peer tutor and volunteer at various secondary schools’ events.”

King is a fifth-year senior from Panama City, Florida, entering her third season with Stillman College.
The senior boasts a 3.80 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.
“JaMesha is an outstanding student, a talented and hardworking athlete and a committed member not just of our women’s basketball program, but our college community," Stillman Athletic Director Terrance Whittle said.
For the Tigers, she averaged 9.9 points per game, 7.3 rebounds and one block during the 2022-2023, while shooting 50% overall and 74% from the free throw line.
King has also been involved as a mentor for student-athletes in her hometown of Panama City, in addition to working as an Upward Bound resident assistant.
What's more, King is active with the National Honors Society, Key Club, Beta Club, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She has been named to the Stillman College Dean's List, SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team and SSAC Player of the Week twice.
