Stretch Of Highway 69 Closed In Northport Due To Debris In Roadway

NORTHPORT, AL — A section of Highway 69 in Northport was closed Thursday as authorities responded to debris blocking the roadway.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said Highway 69 is currently shut down in both directions between Charlie Shirley Road and Mitt Lary Road.

Officials said the closure was necessary because of debris in the roadway, though details about the nature of the debris were not immediately available.

The sheriff's office said state crews have been notified and are expected to respond to clear the area.

Motorists are urged to avoid the affected stretch of highway and seek alternate routes until the roadway can be reopened.
