A popular candidate and representative while in office, Sullivan's endorsement no doubt carries weight among the 65% of the voters he secured in 2018.
As Patch previously reported, Sullivan — still in his 30s and an avid baseball dad — announced last summer that he would not seek a second term in the legislature in 2022, as he aims to spend more time with his family.

Bolton, a 61-year-old Republican, is set to appear on the GOP Primary ballot on Tuesday, May 24 against GOP challenger and former Tuscaloosa-area radio personality Kimberly Madison.
Neither Bolton or Madison have ever held elected office.
However, no Democrats qualified to appear on the ballot for House District 61 during the upcoming Nov. 8 General Election, which paved an easy path to victory once again for the Republican on the November ballot when coupled with the lack of a third candidate to raise the possibility of a primary runoff.
"I'm voting for Ron Bolton on May 24th because I know he will uphold our shared conservative values," Sullivan said in a statement published as part of a campaign advertisement from Bolton on Friday. "Ron is a man of strong character and his commitment to serving his community is unmatched."
House District 61 covers most of northern Tuscaloosa County, including the City of Northport, in addition to a large portion of Pickens County.
“I’m proud to have the support and endorsement of current Rep. Rodney Sullivan," Bolton told Patch via text message on Friday. "Rep. Sullivan and I have worked together closely over the past several years on a number of priority projects for our district. I intend to continue this progress and fight to put our district first."
Polls open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 and will close at 7 p.m.
