Sumter County Woman Dies After Sunday Morning Crash

TUSCALOOSA, Al — A Sumter County woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning near York.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the crash occurred at approximately 7:29 a.m. Sunday on Alabama Highway 17 near Sumter County Road 42, about 11 miles south of York.

Investigators said 34-year-old Iesha L. Pritchett was driving a 2002 Buick Century when it collided with a 2023 Nissan Kicks.

Following the initial impact, troopers believe the Nissan left the roadway and overturned.

Pritchett was critically injured in the crash and airlifted to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, where she later died from her injuries.

Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The other driver was also injured and transported to Ochsner Rush Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
