TUSCALOOSA, AL — A longtime culinary fixture near the University of Alabama campus is now the latest restaurant closure in Tuscaloosa after Surin of Thailand announced on Monday that it had closed its doors for the last time.

This comes in the wake of other closures in 2021 on The Strip in Tuscaloosa, including Egan's and Ruan Thai — both of which were in close proximity to Surin. The eatery first opened on The Strip in 2008.

"Surin of Thailand: Tuscaloosa is permanently closed," the restaurant said on Facebook Monday morning. "Thank you everyone for your support."
