Suspect Apprehended After Barricading Self In Holt Residence Sunday

HOLT, AL — A man has been taken into custody after barricading himself inside a residence in Holt Sunday evening after law enforcement arrived on scene.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jessica McDaniel said there were no hostages and explained the situation in the 3800 block of Alabama Avenue was not a stand-off.

However, she did say the suspect — Lafarr Coleman, 31 — barricaded himself in the home, before SWAT officers eventually entered the residence and took him into custody.

Coleman was booked on an outstanding warrant for felony marijuana possession. According to Ala. Code § 13A-12-213, first degree marijuana possession is a Class D felony.

Coleman was also charged with resisting arrest, second degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
