Suspect Charged After Girlfriend Fatally Shot Thursday At McKenzie Court
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a suspect has been charged with manslaughter after his girlfriend was shot and killed Thursday.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has announced an arrest in the shooting death of a 27-year-old woman Thursday night in McKenzie Court.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, told local media early Friday morning that the Tuscaloosa Police Department was called out to the 3500 block of McKenzie Avenue at about 11 p.m., where Tacara Moton was found dead after being shot.

Kennedy then said Jonathan Lawayne Peebles, 38, was taken into custody by patrol officers and charged with manslaughter after investigators spoke with witnesses and collected additional evidence.
Moton and Peebles were reportedly involved in a romantic relationship at the time of the shooting.
