After speaking with witnesses, Akeria Lane, 19, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody.
"After speaking with the witnesses and viewing video surveillance, it appeared that the female suspect was trying to run over persons in the parking lot, striking multiple vehicles in the process," said Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency unit.

Kennedy went on to say investigators determined that two females had been having a verbal altercation in the parking lot over a male acquaintance they had in common.
" The male acquaintance is a University of Alabama student, but both females are students at other local colleges," he pointed out. "The female entered her vehicle, proceeded to drive into multiple vehicles, and made multiple passes through the parking lot in an attempt to strike the other female with her vehicle. The suspect was interviewed and admitted to investigators that she was trying to 'run over' the other female. "
Lane was charged with attempted murder and booked in to the Tuscaloosa County Jail Wednesday. Her bond was set at $40,000.
Kennedy then said the incident was isolated in nature and there is no danger to the Tuscaloosa campus or surrounding areas.
