TUSCALOOSA, AL — American Idol winner Taylor Hicks is set to perform a free concert on the Walk of Champions prior to Alabama's home football game with Texas on Saturday.

Hicks will take the stage Saturday on Champions Lane at approximately 4 p.m.

UA Athletics says Champions Lane is an extension of Crimson Tide Sports Marketing's pregame entertainment, which added this year and is located to the northwest of Bryant-Denny Stadium on the lawn behind the Tusk statue.
The new offering will incorporate food trucks, a lounge with casual seating, sponsor activations, LED videoboards for fans to watch other college football games in action, a Crimson Tide student-athlete autograph tent and more.

Hicks, a native of Birmingham, was the season five winner on American Idol and has gone on to a successful music career, including becoming the first winner of the show to secure a Las Vegas residency.
In terms of his college football connections, Hicks is also known for being the voice behind the theme song for the wildly popular "Paul Finebaum Show."
