Niedermeyer is the most high-profile assistant thus far to join Holcomb's first-year staff, after Patch previously reported when he was hired from Southside in Selma to replace Adam Winegarden, who left to take a job with the Troy University football program as its director of Leadership and High School Relations

Prior to his latest stints in the high school ranks, Niedermeyer was an assistant on Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee for three seasons, before Pruitt, Niedermeyer and most of the coaching staff were fired with cause after accusations surfaced regarding improper cash payouts to recruits during visits.

Despite the tumultuous end to his time at Tennessee, Niedermeyer was named the National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports and ESPN in 2019.

Niedermeyer's connection to Pruitt was forged during his time as a defensive graduate assistant working with linebackers under Pruitt at both Georgia and Alabama.

He previously was a defensive graduate assistant working with linebackers under head coach Jeremy Pruitt at Georgia and Alabama. Niedermeyer also worked with linebackers at Miami for a single season in 2013 as an analyst.

Niedermeyer coached several All-Americans during his time in the college ranks, including Jonathan Allen, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Reuben Foster and Marlon Humphrey.

Niedermeyer, 35, is a native of Eagle River, Alaska, and played tight end at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
