TCSS Expected To Hire Next Holt Football Coach Monday
The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education is expected to name Brian Newton as the next head football coach for the Ironmen.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Sources have confirmed that Tuscaloosa County High football assistant Brian Newton is expected to be named the next head coach at Holt High School during Monday night's meeting of the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education.

The hire, which is set to receive final consideration by the TCSS school board, was first reported by WVUA 23's Gary Harris on his morning radio show Monday on Tide 100.9.

Newton joined Adam Winegarden's staff at TCHS for the 2022 season after assistant coaching stints at Brookwood and American Christian Academy.
The new job will be his first as a high school head coach.

Newton will take the place of Dustin Hyche, who resigned from arguably the toughest head coaching job in the county on October 2022 after two seasons and a 2-18 record.
If the hire is approved as expected, Newton will become the 21st head coach in Holt High history and the sixth in the last 10 years.
