Tennessee Woman Killed, Six Injured In Highway 43 Crash

A woman was killed and six others injured in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 43 Tuesday afternoon.

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says a Tennessee woman was killed and six others injured in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon on Highway 43, approximately 14 miles north of the Northport city limits.

ALEA says the wreck occurred at 4:35 p.m. near the 218 mile marker, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Rose Pleasants of Brownsville, Tennessee, in addition to six other people being transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Pleasants was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2003 Buick LeSabre she was a passenger in collided head-on with a 2008 Ford Mustang driven by a 16 year old from Berry in Fayette County.

According to officials, the 16 year old and his 7-year-old passenger were injured and transported to receive medical treatment, in addition to the driver of the Buick and three other passengers, who also required hospitalization.

ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the wreck.
