Theatre Tuscaloosa To Kick Off 2023-24 Season This Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Theatre Tuscaloosa is set to kick off its 2023-24 season with a one-woman show debuting Oct. 4 through Oct. 8.

Dubbed "A Season of Change with Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End," the production by Margaret Engel and Allison Engel will be held in the Alabama Power Recital Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College.

Here's a look at the performance dates:
- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 4 - 7 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
Theatre Tuscaloosa says tickets are now available and are priced at $8 for all ages, while the Friday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 8, performances are already sold out.

Additionally, the theater company says due to discussions of adulthood and strong themes, the show is recommended for ages 13 and up.
The show will star Carol DeVelice as Erma Bombeck.
DeVelice has starred in over 45 shows with Theatre Tuscaloosa since 1977.
“We are thrilled to have Carol DeVelice leading this show,” Director Tina Turley said. “I have worked with Carol for years, and every show, she brings larger-than-life talent to our stage. She is a must-see as Erma Bombeck.”
Theater Tuscaloosa said DeVelice and Turley originally rehearsed intended the show for the 2020 SecondStage season, but were forced to shut down production due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Turley also plans to travel the show across west Alabama after its debut.
