The Fred Haskins Award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding college golfer, with past winners including Alabama's Justin Thomas in 2012, Stanford's Tiger Woods in 1996 and the only two three-time winners of the award — Arizona State's Phil Mickelson and Texas' Ben Crenshaw.

Claycomb, a senior from Bowling Green, Kentucky, ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation this fall, according to PGA Tour University collegiate golfer rankings.

During the fall season, Claycomb averaged a 70.50 per round score and was good enough to earn medalist honors at the Rod Myers Invitational in early September — his second career individual title.
