Tide Hoops Earns Highest Preseason AP Poll Ranking In School History

The Crimson Tide came in ranked No. 2 in the first AP Poll of the year, marking the highest preseason ranking in school history.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama men's basketball team will enter the 2024-25 season ranked higher in the Associated Press preseason poll than any other time in school history.

The Crimson Tide came in ranked No. 2 in the first AP Poll of the year, which comes almost a day after Alabama snagged the No. 4 spot in the KenPom rankings.

Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats, entering his sixth season in Tuscaloosa, fostered a great deal of momentum following the program's very first Final Four appearance last season and followed up that performance by securing the No. 2 overall signing class during the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Two freshman additions that are likely to make an immediate impact are five-star recruits Derrion Reid and Aiden Sherrell, along with four-star prospect Naas Cunningham

Other signees from the transfer portal who are expected to make an impact this season include: Aden Holloway, Houston Mallette, Clifford Omoruyi, and Labaron Philon

Alabama will open the season with a charity exhibition this Friday in Birmingham against Wake Forest. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

The regular season will open with Crimson Chaos Night as UNC Asheville comes to town on Monday, Nov. 4.
