Tide Hoops To Take On Memphis In Charity Exhibition In Huntsville

Alabama announced it will take on Memphis in a charity exhibition game on Oct. 28 at the Von Braun Center Propst Arena in Huntsville.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama men's basketball team on Monday announced it will take on Memphis in a charity exhibition game on Oct. 28 at the Von Braun Center Propst Arena in Huntsville.

Dubbed the 2024 Rocket City Classic, proceeds from the game will benefit the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and its Caring House Children's Grief Program.

Presale tickets will be available through Von Braun Center channels starting Aug. 22, with general public sales opening the following day. Tipoff time has not yet been announced.

"We are excited and looking forward to partnering with Memphis for this meaningful event in Huntsville," Alabama head coach Nate Oats said. "This exhibition game is a chance to benefit the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and give back to people in need which goes beyond basketball. We look forward to seeing our fans in Huntsville and the opportunity to play a quality program in Memphis."

Memphis posted a 22-10 record last season and an 11-7 mark in the American Athletic Conference.

Coached by former NBA star Penny Hardaway, the Tigers bolstered its roster with the No. 11 transfer class in the country.

Alabama holds a 4-6 all-time record against Memphis, with the two teams last meeting in 2022, which saw Alabama emerge victorious 91-88.
