Tide's Anderson, Moore Named To FWAA's Freshman All-America Team

Two Crimson Tide defenders received Freshman All-American honors by the Football Writers Association of America.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Crimson Tide defensive back Malachi Moore and linebacker Will Anderson, Jr. were named to the Freshman All-America team published Monday by the Football Writers Association of America, which comes after notable contributions from both in Alabama's run to an 18th national title. Anderson also earned the distinction of being named the Shaun Alexander-FWAA Freshman of the Year.

Anderson started every game at linebacker for the Tide during his freshman season, also earning selections to the SEC All-Freshman squad and second team all-conference honors from the Associated Press, along with Freshman All-America honors from 247 Sports and The Athletic.

The linebacker and native of Hampton, Georgia also finished second in the SEC in sacks with seven, while ranking third in tackles for loss at 10.5.

Moore, a native of Trussville, earned a starting spot on the Tide defense during the 2020 campaign, which also saw him selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team, All-SEC second team and Freshman All-American teams by 247 Sports and The Athletic. Moore led Alabama's defense with four forced turnovers and a team-high three interceptions.
