Alabama's Brandon Miller Named To Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List

Alabama freshman forward Brandon Miller has been named one of 20 candidates on the 2023 John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama freshman forward Brandon Miller has been named one of 20 candidates on the 2023 John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List.

UA Athletics pointed out that Miller is the first Alabama player to be named to the late season watch list since Collin Sexton during the 2017-18 season. The annual award is presented to the most-outstanding men's and women's players in college basketball.

Alabama has never had a winner of the award, which will be be presented by Wendy's in April following the NCAA Tournament in April.

At this point in the season, Miller has been named SEC Freshman of the Week five times, while standing out as the only player in Division I to score 400 points, record 170 rebounds and make 65 three-pointers this season.

Going into Alabama's Tuesday night matchup with Vanderbilt at Coleman Coliseum, Miller is averaging 19 points per game to lead all freshman in the country.

The Crimson Tide (18-3, 8-0 SEC) will host the Commodores (10-11, 3-5 SEC), with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
