Tide's Tyler Fay Earns National Honors After Tossing Historic No-Hitter

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama pitcher Tyler Fay has been named the Golden Spikes x D1Baseball Player of the Week.

The honor from USA Baseball comes after the Nebraska native tossed the Crimson Tide’s first individual nine-inning no-hitter in more than eight decades in a win over No. 18 Florida last Friday.

The right-hander recorded the ninth no-hitter in program history, leading Alabama to a 6-0 win in the series opener.
Alabama baseball said Fay is the first Tide player to receive the weekly recognition since USA Baseball introduced the award in 2018.

Fay delivered a career performance in the victory, setting personal bests with nine innings pitched and 13 strikeouts.
He also issued just two walks and retired 27 of the 29 batters he faced.
The junior struck out at least one batter in seven of his nine innings, including multiple strikeouts in five frames.
The performance marked the first individual nine-inning no-hitter by an Alabama pitcher since Eddie Owcar accomplished the feat in 1942. It was also the program’s first no-hitter of any kind since 2014.
Through six starts this season, Fay holds a 4.06 ERA, allowing 17 earned runs over 37 2/3 innings.
He leads the Crimson Tide in innings pitched, strikeouts (47) and opponent batting average (.187).
